The instruction is LA3-B,

Write the part: for the jovian category you may choose any of the four such planets that exists in our solar system.

This final LA (LA3-A or LA3-B) involves most of the material in
Module 4. However, as you’ve discovered the course builds on
previous modules so you should use all the resources of the
course to write your best LA yet.
This LA option requires your group to visit (virtually) any one of the
many Jovian moons or dwarf planets in the solar system. Your first
decision, as a group, is to decide which moon (or dwarf planet) to
explore. Of course, it must have appealing characteristics and visiting
such a place as a researching astronomy cohort must have a scientific
purpose; this is not a vacation. Which body would you pick, and why?
What dangers would you face in exploring this moon or dwarf planet
and what precautions would you have to take for your visit (cite at least
three dangers and concomitant precautions)? Design at least three
specific experiments would you undertake and describe what you would
hope to accomplish in selecting and designing each experiment? Do not
let the lack of current technology constrain your thinking; it is
acceptable to imagine experiments that are not yet possible, but you
will have to describe any new technologies that your stretched mind
might conceive.
For this very last LA option you have been asked to write an article for a
special edition of National Geographic on the Solar System. The thrust
of the article is to compare (and contrast) the two types of planets
found in our solar system, terrestrial and jovian. Although general in
nature you are being asked to select one planet of each type as a model
of that type. For instance, for terrestrials you could choose one of
Mercury, Venus and Mars but not Earth, although you can certainly
mention Earth and discuss some of its features but the focus of the
terrestrial discussion must be on one of the other terrestrial planets.
For the jovian category you may choose any of the four such planets
that exist in our solar system. There are many properties to discuss
(geology, atmosphere, size, location, etc.) and certainly in a lsoo-word
presentation you will have to limit your choices but the final result
should leave your readers with a true sense of the differences and
similarities of these two types of planets.
By now you should be seeing a standard minimum for the length of
these LAs; if you guessed about 1500 words, well, it was a good guess!!
Assigning the various responsibilities for each member of the group
should be normal practice by now; the summarizer (writer) should be
someone who has not yet had that experience. i shall not provide a
Grading Rubric for this final LA; by now you should know what is
required to achieve a good grade.
Lastly, I will remind you once again that all assignments must be
submitted in .doc or .rtf format so that they can be checked for
plagiarism. Failure to do this will result in an automatic grade one point
reduction and a zero overall if the submission is not corrected after
being informed of the improper format.‘
Title your file LA3_lastname_student number. For example:
LA3_McDonald_123456789.doc and don‘t forget to include the names of
all of your group members in the submission! Submit it to the dropmx
before the deadline.
